I love starting with the why before I get into the how!  Managing your social media is very important.  It’s a necessary part of your marketing mix that can yield high results if done correctly.  In addition, proper management will build a bigger audience, which leads to higher profits.  So, effective management should be a very high priority!

Tips for Managing Social Media

Define what you’re working with.

What social media networks are you already using?  Most brands have various ones.  So, it’s always a great idea to know where you are starting!  Write them down in a place with consistent visibility.  That way, you know where you are, which helps you define where you want to be.

What are you going to share?

I can’t stress this point enough.  Most business owners and brands think social media is about selling their product/service.  Wrong…..That thought process is the quickest way to lose at this!  Social Media gives you an opportunity to share pics, videos, graphics, stories, advice, and sell!  Another great tip for managing social media is to make a list of what you plan to share.  This is critical for your social media road map!

Specify when to share, how to share, your funnel, end of the funnel, and quantify your following.

You must know when you plan on posting, tweeting, blogging, emailing, making videos, etc…..A schedule is a necessity!  Since you now know what you’ll share, determine which channels to share on.  Think of your entire social media strategy as a funnel.  Lead your audience to the buy!  Organize your social media list according to the number of followers for each network!  This will affect your communication strategy for sure!

I know your’e taking notes right?  Lets continue….

What fits for each network?

By now, you’ve got your content list.  Use the list to determine which networks will receive what content.  For example, twitter has character limitations.  That’s not a bad thing at all.  It just takes a little more creativity!  So, when posting content that will take more than 140 characters, keep that in mind.  It can be easy to do, but don’t put all content on every network!

Diversify your content!

No one wants to read the same stuff over and over again.  It’s like wearing the same outfit everyday!  Make sure you infuse your personality in your message.  You’re human….Show it!  People buy from people!

Utilizing these tips for managing social media are sure to get you the success you want!

Remember….You don’t want to miss out on a sale or a relationship that could’ve been built from responding to an email, tweet, or comment.  Missing your bottom line because of something simple is not a good feeling.  I know that from experience.  Effectively manage social media & you’re bound to put your brand in the forefront of your customer’s mind!

Blessings,
